ETA:

Thanks, everyone! Some of these I was not even aware of. I'm way behind in fandom things these days.

Has anyone seen any good movies lately? I have got to get out of here next week and I need something uplifting or exciting or just fun!

I've been watching DVDs of shows I normally can't keep track of like The Good Wife. There are some good conservative moments in there eventually and the comedy is solid, classy under-stated stuff.

I also watched an old tv series "The 10th Kingdom" and thought it was plenty fun, especially the Prince who acts like a dog.

I thought about watching The Good Wife at some point. I was a big fan of Julianna Margulies from her ER days.

Trivia: I was hesitant to watch it when it first began because... the thought of them straightening her hair was traumatic to me.

*hides in embarrassment*

As far as I'm concerned, that's a crime against humanity! But I just now read it's a wig! HUZZAH!

Someone told me they made a new movie in the Harry Potter universe. Did anyone see it? Is it any good?

Yup, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them". I haven't seen it, but my wife did and she liked it.

Oh, that's right. Looks like it's gone from my area, though. Figures!

It was really good. On disc now, I think.

I might venture out and rent that one. I read all the books and saw all the movies.

I'm going tomorrow to see Fifty Shades Daker at the Malco. The last movie I saw at the theater was Jack Reacher. Before that was Dr. Strange.

Jack Reacher 2 just came out on disc. We missed seeing it in theater. Dr. Strange was awesome.

Not super recent, unfortunately. Lots of movies on the to-do list.

Live-action Beauty and the Beast comes out next month.

Let's see ... I saw Moana around the holidays (and I loved it; I'm a hardcore Disney fan though). I also saw Star Wars: Rogue One, which I also absolutely loved (much more than The Force Awakens, if you ask me).

For Valentine's Day, I told my husband that all I wanted to do was to go out and see the Lego Batman movie and John Wick 2 at some point. I'm very much looking forward to those movies, as I loved both the Lego Movie and the first John Wick. :)

Oddly enough, there's a lot of good stuff coming out this year ... At least for me. I am totally hyped for Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Thor: Ragnarok. And Beauty & The Beast comes out in a month, which I am cautiously optimistic about (I hope I'm not disappointed with the music; I was underwhelmed by the clip I heard of Emma Watson singing to be honest).

I'm very behind on TV shows right now, but there's a lot of stuff I've been wanting to watch. Sneaky Pete on Amazon is at the top of my list, as is Peaky Blinders on Netflix.

As a major, major Star Wars fan, I also liked Rogue One more than The Force Awakens.

Rogue One is awsome.   Moana is good.  So is 2 strings.

If you haven't seen Hidden Figures, it's such an uplifting movie. Pun intended! And yet it's nonfiction. Even better.

I'm thinking the next inspirational movie I'm going to see will be A Dog's Purpose. The trailers have made it look like a real tearjerker that's just got to have a silver lining at the end. It looks as if it runs the emotional gamut.

The movie follows the same dog being reincarnated as a dog multiple times and being very aware of that fact as he wonders what it's all for. And how bacon fits in! :D

I've seen Moana too as someone else mentioned and it was wonderful IMO. The songs were pretty memorable and catchy. If you want a more lighthearted experience then that's a good bet if it's still playing near you.

I'll keep them in mind, thanks. I definitely need "uplifting" these days.
